Conference Scholarships

There are a very limited number of scholarships that will be provided for the 2018 6th Annual Lown Institute Conference. These scholarships will provide funding up to $1200 to help bring individuals including, but not limited to, medical students, medical residents, nurses, nursing students, public health students, community organizers, civic leaders, patients and patient advocates to the 2018 Lown Conference.

Applications must be submitted by Monday, December 11, 2017 by 11:59 pm PST.

Scholarship eligibility

If you identify in one of the following categories, then you are eligible to apply:

  • Students and trainees (including, but not limited to, medical, nursing, and public health programs)
  • Nurses,
  • Community organizers,
  • Civic leaders,
  • Patients,
  • Patient advocates, and
  • Other individuals affiliated with nonprofits engaged in advancing right care.

Scholarship applicants must attend the entire conference (Monday, April 9 and Tuesday, April 10) to be eligible for the scholarship.

How to Apply

In order to apply for a scholarship, please register for the conference and answer the questions through the registration process. You will also be prompted to upload a CV/resume. You will not be asked to make a payment at that time. At the end of the process, your registration will be considered pending until notifications are sent early January regarding your status. A follow-up email with further instructions on how to complete your registration will be sent to you at that time.

Key Dates

  • December 11, 2017 – Applications Due
  • Early January 2018 – Applicants will be notified of scholarship decisions
  • April 9, 2018 to April 10, 2018 – 6th Annual Lown Institute Conference in Washington, DC
  • July 10, 2018 – All reimbursement receipts due
